I was watching Wall-E the other day, and I was saddened. It’s not that the movie is not good, in fact I’ve been watching that movie over and over. What made me sad is that, it was the first time I finished the whole movie including the credits and I noticed that the movie was dedicated to Justin Wright. It got me curious as to who the guys is and he quite young to die and the year is recent 2008.
I fired up my browser and googled “Justin Wright” and I was enlightened who this guy was. He was the story board artist for Pixar’s Wall-E. Oh man…this is just sad. Below is an excerpt from Justin’s colleague Ronnie del Carmen from Pixar.
It was a shock. I read the mail late last night and it kept me up. This morning we gathered in a small screening room as a Story department for the formal announcement before the news goes out to the studio. Justing Wright passed away last night.
Justin was a very enthusiastic person and full of energy. You’d never guess that he had already gone through so much in life.

Here is another article from Cartoon Brew:
Sad news out of Pixar. Story supervisor Ronnie del Carmen reports on his blog that newly minted Pixar story artist Justin Wright passed away Tuesday evening at age 27. The cause of death was a heart attack; this article about Justin says that he had health complications as a child and had received a heart transplant. I’m not familiar with his work owing to his nascent career but his personal illustration blog offers a glimpse of his drawing talent.
